Last month, I posted a weekly goal setting challenge. Hopefully if you followed the challenge, you are making positive steps towards the goals that you set for yourself! Whether you completed the goal challenge or not, this week’s time management challenge will dramatically change how you view your schedule and how you spend your time.
We all have the same 168 hours per week. It always seems to speed by, often leaving us feeling like we were unable to accomplish all of our tasks. After completing this challenge for myself, I was able to pinpoint exactly where I was wasting time, and how I could accomplish more than I could ever imagine. Most of us are wasting time without even realizing it.
The Time Management Challenge
This week I challenge you to evaluate how you spend your time. The more you are in control of your time, the more efficiently you can achieve the goals that you are passionate about.
What to do:
- Get your calendar or scheduler out, and make sure the tasks for this week are all written out (meetings, calls, work, etc…)
- On a separate sheet of paper make a list. Write: Sleep, Work, Family/Friend Time, Fitness/Recreational, Hobbies, Self-Development/Learning/Spiritual Wellness, Relaxation/TV/Video Games, Driving/Commute, Cleaning/Housework, Cooking/Eating, and Other
- With the list that you just made, write down the hours that you get for each of these categories during your week.
- At the end of the week, add up your total hours
What was your total hours number? Each week has 168 hours. Was your number way below 168? Most people tend to be a lot less than this number. So what does that mean? That means there is time unaccounted for. More than likely, it is with transition times. We waste an incredible amount of time in between daily activities. Transforming transition times can take our days and goals to the next level.
I hope this challenge is as eye-opening for you as it was for me! If you have questions or want to share how you did with this challenge, message me at @drkaseyjohnson on Instagram! Excited to hear about how you do!
