Most organizations that are using artificial intelligence (AI) reported improvements in their company culture

I find companies often view technology with a yardstick. Of course, metrics are important. The benefit of scalable AI, however, may not turn into dollars 100% of the time. The best tech makes a transformational difference for real people.

Company culture is one that is close to my heart. I’ve worked in cultures where I would have done just about anything asked of me. These cultures were built on feeling valued, inspired and recognized. Of course, we all know how the opposite of that feels, which is why I was fascinated by BCG’s article entitled “The Hidden Cultural Benefits of AI.” 

Be prepared to explore the impact of AI in fresh ways. This article covers ground I’ve not seen elsewhere and dives into interesting stats about how AI impacts:

  • Team morale

  • Collaboration

  • Role clarity

  • Collective learning

In fact, 97% of companies surveyed report improvement in at least one cultural benefit. That’s amazing considering culture is one of the top reasons for people to stay – or leave – an organization. 

It makes sense.

AI improves efficiency and decision making. The more clarity we have, the more space we have to create and innovate and work with others to achieve big goals. 

The article explores something else I hope more people in tech consider: the relationship between technology and people. We are not talking about displacement of people or AI vs. users. They are not mutually exclusive. If AI were part of the organizational fabric, the result can have a powerful influence on outcomes . . .

  • When AI helps an organization be more competitive, employees feel the energy of being on a winning team.

  • When AI improves an organization’s business processes, team morale goes up.

  • When AI strengthens company culture, it is more resilient.
