Hundreds of employees at Heathrow Airport are gearing up for a week-long strike amid tensions surrounding the outsourcing of jobs.

Unite, the union representing the workers, announced that approximately 800 members are set to strike from May 7th to May 13th, citing what they perceive as "deplorable action" from the airport's management.

This strike comes on the heels of a separate 72-hour walkout on May 4th, involving 50 refuelling staff, further highlighting the escalating discord between workers and airport authorities.

According to Unite, the affected workers primarily include those in passenger services, responsible for assisting travelers with connecting flights, as well as individuals involved in trolley operations and security roles. These employees are slated to have their positions outsourced by June, prompting vehement opposition from the union.

Sharon Graham, the general secretary of Unite, condemned Heathrow Airport's actions, accusing them of prioritizing profits over the welfare of their workforce.
