4 Things to Improve Your Website’s Appearance

Do you want to know how to make an appealing website? Find out how in this guide.  When creating a website, you want to have all of the design elements planned out in advance. This makes it easier to create a consistent page appearance and keep your viewers interested in what you have to offer. Here are some things you should know if you want to know how to improve website design

Simplicity

While the appearance of your website is important, most readers aren't coming to your site to discuss about the design. Instead, they are going to the site to complete an action, or find an important piece of information.

Avoid using unnecessary design elements to the website because it will make it harder for your viewers to visualize your page. And it will make it harder for your visitors to accomplish the goals what they were trying to accomplish.

You can enjoy website simplicity by using a few simple techniques. Here are some things you'll have to consider.

  • Colors - We suggest that you don’t use too many colors on your website. Use colors to evoke emotion and use one to two colors in your design.
  • Graphics - You should only use graphics if they help you perform a specific function or complete a task.
  • Typefaces - The typefaces that you use need to be legible. And just like colors, you don't need too many typefaces to make a good impression on your viewers.

Visual Hierarchy

Besides the simplicity of the site, your website needs to be visually easy for the visitor to read. You will have to organize your website elements so your visitors can find the most important information first.

Remember, when it comes to UX and optimizing the page for usability, the goal is the lead your visitors into completing the desired action. By adjusting the color, text, size of the certain elements, you'll create a site where your readers are drawn to those elements first.

Navigability

Ideally, you’ll want your visitor to enter your site and find what they need. They should not have to wonder where they should click next, as this will reduce their interest in engaging with your site.

So, you'll want to get your visitors from point A to point B as fast as possible. Here are some ways you can improve the site's navigation:

  • Include navigation on the site footer.
  • Don’t give too much navigation options on a page.
  • Keep the navigation structure simple.
  • Add some links to the page copy, and decide and be clear where the links will lead to.

Consistency

In addition to site navigation, the overall feel and look on your site needs to be consistent across all of the pages. Color schemes, type faces, backgrounds, and the tone of the writing are areas that have a positive impact on the UX and the usability.

Create different layouts for certain pages if you need to have variation. By having a consistent website layout, you’ll have more visitors viewing your page and viewing your call to actions. You will make it easier for them to find information on a given page, which leads to more points to your company’s reputation.

Conclusion

Now that you know how to improve website design, implement it so that your pages perform better and are more appealing to your audience. Test the page before launching it, and remove any kinks or design issues along the way. You'll be rewarded with a beautiful page and more happy visitors as a result.
