Is Your Body in Bankruptcy?

Is Your Body in Bankruptcy?

Ellie Savoy 06/09/2019 5

Imagine that your body is like your bank account. It really is a repository of the wonderfulness that is you!

If you make regular withdrawals and no deposits, sooner or later (likely sooner) you are going to wind up in the red. You know that stress inducing overdrawn feeling? Ugh.

Well, your body is just like that and when you keep requiring it to provide you with energy withdrawals but you aren’t putting in healthy nutritious deposits, you are going to bankrupt your body.

In fact, when you refuse to deposit greens (it’s more than the color of money), you are robbing your body, just like you’d be robbing a bank.

So how do you create space in your busy life for making simple nutritious meals that improve the quality of your health? It all starts with your mindset. Is it important enough to you to get healthy and lose weight without the restrictions and rules of a diet, or do you want to keep going deeper in the red?

If lack of time is your reason a great place to start is to take a look at your calendar and remove what absolutely doesn’t need to be on it. And add what does such as time for home cooking, self-care, relaxation and having fun. Approach this as if your life depends on it because it actually does!

We all seem to be challenged today with balancing many things, but do you absolutely need to do everything and be everywhere? Or, does making time for a nutritious home cooked meal make sense? Sure. When you are sick you can’t do everything and be everywhere which forces you to change your plans. Put yourself back in charge of your life and health and start thinking of your health like your bank account. Is it healthy or deficient?

We all know that eating vegetables in their original fresh form are great for enjoying good health yet they are the number one food missing from the modern diet. Learning to incorporate dark, leafy greens into the diet is essential to establishing good, strong health and keeping your body out of overdraft.

  • Greens help build your internal rainforest and strengthen the blood and respiratory system.
  • Leafy green vegetables are also high-alkaline foods. The alkaline minerals in our bodies are used to neutralize acidic conditions caused by the environment.
  • Green vegetables will help to replenish our alkaline mineral stores and continue to filter out pollutants.
  • Green is associated with spring, the time of renewal, refreshment and vital energy. In Traditional Chinese medicine, green is related to the liver, emotional stability and creativity.

Nutritionally, greens are very high in calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, phosphorous, zinc and vitamins A, C, E and K. They are loaded with fiber, folic acid, chlorophyll and many other micronutrients and phytochemicals.

For motivation, some of the proven and possible benefits of consuming dark leafy greens include:

  • Blood purification
  • Cancer prevention
  • Improved circulation
  • Strengthened immune system
  • Promotion of healthy intestinal flora
  • Promotion of subtle, light and flexible energy
  • Improved liver, gall bladder and kidney function
  • Cleared congestion, especially in lungs by reducing mucus

Trying to be super-human is self-destructive. I know because I used to wear my superwoman outfit on a regular basis. Choosing to take responsibility of your health and how you feel is VERY empowering. I encourage you to try it.

In the meantime, the truth is we all make excuses. Ask yourself if your excuses are helping you or hurting you. Is foregoing a few minutes of planning a healthy meal really worth it for catching up with your recorded TV shows and a TV dinner, or hanging out on social media with a bunch of snacks?

Next time you decide to skip a meal or grab something quick, ask yourself, “Is this a deposit or a withdrawal?” You don’t want to run out of money AND I know you don’t want to run out of having a healthy and happy life.

Health and bank account might seem like separate topics, but they are inextricably linked

Deposits are things that increase your function like eating wholesome food, exercising, relaxing, and socializing.

Listen to what your body tells you. If it says you’re in debt, pay it back as soon as you can. If it tells you you’ve got a surplus, go out and spend a little but always respect the balance.

Her commonsense and step by step approach has literally transformed the way people look at their body, health and life. She spent over two decades under a great deal of stress. She lost sight of the importance of her health time and time again; gaining weight and yo-yo dieting to take care of it, skipping meals during the day, eating too late at night, and letting work dictate how all of her time was spent. Many people need a trigger for change in life and the first trigger for her was her mother’s passing in 2008. Then just 21 months later her father passed away. Not only was this a ton of grief to process, but it started her on a deeper exploration of what is really important in this life. The saying “you can’t take it with you when you die” really hit home. She had been living with so much stress striving for more and more losing sight of herself and her health. The final trigger was in 2011 when she was diagnosed with two uterine fibroids. The four options she was given were actually not options for her! Three involved surgery and the other one was to do nothing. This scared her into understanding what she needed to do to naturally heal her body and permanently end the yo-yo dieting dilemma. This was when she really embraced making healthy permanent lifestyle changes. Since then she has been enjoying living a diet free and healthy life, without aches and pains, medications and a bunch of rules! She hasn’t looked back since. Ellie’s approach is not just for yo-yo dieters or those wanting to lose weight – it’s for everyone who is concerned about what their future looks like and wants to take control of their health. She has helped women with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, thyroid imbalance, irritable bowel syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and a host of other symptoms. Ellie helps you to show up in your own life, stop making excuses, shift your mindset, have a plan and connect with the passion in your belly to live your best life. It’s a lot of fun!
