Hyundai Launches The World's First EV Car Powered Hotel

The Hyundai Hotel is located at Colemans Farm, near Essex, about an hour outside of London.

It has been put together with the help of columnist, broadcaster and author Grace Dent.

After much anticipation, consumers can now get a glimpse of the world’s first car-powered hotel, as Hotel Hyundai opens its doors, offering the most unique off grid experience of 2022.

The core aspects of the hotel revolve around reducing waste, saving energy, and cutting down on water usage.

The hotel has a restaurant and bar area, where guests can order cocktails and tuck into a three-course meal cooked using locally-sourced ingredients by a local chef. There is also a coffee lounge.

At the heart of the Hyundai Hotel is a luxury cabin for two, with all electronic gadgetry powered by the Ioniq 5 electric crossover.

"Our award-winning Ioniq 5 is able to power Hotel Hyundai using its V2L feature, where an adapter from the car provides a socket which domestic appliances can be plugged into," said Managing Director at Hyundai UK, Ashley Andrew. "The whole experience demonstrates the practicality of this pioneering technology, and we hope the concept inspires more people to go off grid."

The IONIQ 5 is able to power the hotel and its experiences using its V2L feature that supplies AC power (230V/50Hz) up to a maximum of 3.6kW (or 15 Amps) power consumption. An adapter from the car provides a socket into which standard domestic appliances can be plugged into.

The Hyundai Hotel won't be a permanent fixture at Colemans Farm, and is open for guest bookings until November 5 only.

Besides reducing adverse effects to the environment and winning the goodwill of guests, when hotels go green they also lower costs.

Members of the public can enjoy the full experience on offer with welcome cocktails, a three-course meal, evening film and breakfast hamper all included.
