Queen Elizabeth II Under Medical Supervision

The Queen of England, Elizabeth II, is under medical supervision at the Balmoral Castle.

Buckingham Palace said that doctors are concerned for the queen's health.

The queen remains under medical supervision at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Several members of the royal family are gathering at, or are travelling to, her Scottish estate near Aberdeen.

It is very rare for Buckingham Palace to put out a statement like this - it is usually unwilling to provide a commentary on the 96-year-old monarch's medical matters, which are seen as private.

Liz Truss, who met the 96 years old monarch to become the new prime minister of the UK earlier this week, has tweeted out her concern at the possibility of the monarch dying. "The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime," she stated. "My thoughts - and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom - are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time."

Prince Charles has travelled to Balmoral with his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall.

The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, was already in Scotland undertaking engagements and is in Balmoral.

The Duchess of Cambridge has remained in Windsor with their children on their first full day at school.

Harry and Megan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who were due to attend a charity event in London, are also travelling to Balmoral.

Barriers have been being placed outside one of the entrances to the estate.

There are clearly pressing concerns for the Queen's health - much more explicitly put than before and without any reference to this only being about difficulties with mobility.

Numerous TV channels across the UK have even cancelled their programming for the rest of the afternoon, running live news shows about the Queen instead.
