Food Cravings – How To Decide When To Cleanse

Have you ever tried to cleanse because you thought it was a good idea for losing weight and a path to get away from constant dieting?

I did my first cleanse back in the year 2000. I didn’t really know much back then, but I thought it was a good idea. It involved drinking some kind of tea while still eating food. The taste of the tea was dreadful and it was certainly a struggle to drink it, so I didn’t even last a day!

I know it’s challenging to make a decision on which cleanse is best because there are so many different options available. Some sell a cleanse along with taking certain pills that they have a financial interest in. Some suggest removing animal products, sugars, gluten, etc. and focus on eating a cleaner diet free of pesticides and chemicals for a certain number of days.

I personally like an all-liquid cleanse because it gives the digestion a break. Makes sense, right? Your digestive tract is probably on overload from rushing your meals and not chewing the food thoroughly. Plus, the other stuff you have on your plate these days such as information overload, calendar overload and stress also take a toll on your digestion.

When eating well is part of your daily life, such as organic versus conventionally grown produce, and ditching processed and “convenience” products, cleansing becomes natural and enjoyable. It will also break you free from constant dieting. You see, years ago, I wasn’t ready for a cleanse. I wasn’t committed to a healthy lifestyle. Sure, I was sometimes, but I wasn’t invested like I am now. I was using it like a quick fix to clean up my body and lose some weight. I was craving many foods on the cleanse, and as soon as the cleanse was over, I was eating everything I missed. Not ideal at all.

I encourage you to make juicing (this is when the pulp is extracted), and smoothies (nothing is extracted, it’s all blended) part of a healthy lifestyle. It’s a great investment in your health and will lead you to natural weight loss if that has been an area of struggle for you. You will also start to feel better and have more energy. When you are doing this on a regular basis, cleansing becomes a lot easier and something to look forward to. A win-win for your health and your waistline. A diet free life is so wonderful!
