5 Ways to Achieve Anything You Want in Life

We all have dreams. For some, it could be to launch a business and for others, it might be becoming a renowned sportsperson. Whatever your dream is, the good news is that you can achieve it and make it a reality.

It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up and pursue your dreams. Here’s the catch: Most people don’t know how to turn their aspirations into a reality. So, if you’ve decided to embark on a journey that leads to your dreams, here are a few pointers that would make it easy for you:

1. Be bold and thing big

The common thing among the successful people all around the world is that they weren’t afraid to think big. It was the power of thinking big that made us reach the Moon and video call to someone sitting miles away. I’m sure Elon Musk and Steve Jobs wouldn’t have revolutionized Aerospace and Telecommunication industries respectively by thinking small and listening to opinions of others.

The first step to achieve an impossible feat is to plant a powerful thought or an idea in your mind and then go for it. Napoleon Hill once said,

“You can be anything you want to be, if only you believe with sufficient conviction and act in accordance with your faith; for whatever mind can believe, it can achieve.”

2. Don’t make noise but take action

No matter how good your intentions are, your actions are going to determine your success at the end of the day. Dreams only come true if you act on them. Some people confuse activity with progress and start doing multiple things to keep them busy. On the contrary, the point is to work passionately on things that are actually going to make a difference.

To inspire yourself to get moving and work on your dreams, you must write down your goals. Grab a pen and write:

  • Your top three priorities in life right now
  • Five reasons why you’d like to achieve your dream
  • A few quotes to stay focused

3. Don’t let failure discourage you

It is hard to fail but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.

Theodore Roosevelt

To achieve success, you have to work hard. You need to attempt new things, follow new approaches, try different permutations and combinations. And, it’s very much possible to not succeed at the first attempt. Don’t get disheartened or let it dampen your spirits in any form.

There’s something interesting about failure - you can either be discouraged by it or learn from it. Don’t hesitate to make mistakes because that’s where you’ll find success. Thomas Edison, Oprah Winfrey, J.K Rowling, Abraham Lincoln are some fine examples of highly successful people who failed on their way to success.

4. Learn from others

Learning and applying that knowledge in real-life scenarios is critical to succeed in life. If we look around, we would observe numerous living examples of successful and happy individuals - parents, friends, mentors, neighbours, or even celebrities, for that matter. These are the kind of people you need to surround yourself with as they are the ones who would actually help you grow and succeed.

Read things that are relevant to your dream and self-educate yourself to have an edge over others. Listen to interviews and podcasts of the people who have made it big in life. See what worked for them and apply those lessons to accelerate your growth.

5. Don’t settle until you get there

The most important one: Don’t settle for anything less than what you’ve dreamt of. This is going to be one of the biggest motivators which will encourage you to work harder and keep going. Only you know what your dream means to you and only you can make it happen.

So, whenever demotivation starts sinking in, think about each and every reason that made you choose this path. Always remember that success is the result of commitment, hard work, learning from others, failure and luck.

Last few thoughts

My only intention while writing is to fan the fire inside you and make you act on things that you’re really passionate about. They say that nothing is impossible and they are absolutely right. We’ve witnessed people achieving unbelievable feats with dedication, clarity, and conviction. And, if this can work for all the billionaires, Olympic athletes, great artists, they can work for you as well.

So, think big, start small, act now and enjoy the journey!
