How Fashion Nova Is Helping Restore Houston Homes After the Winter Storm

"Helping Houston Rebuild" is an effort by the National Association of Christian Churches (NACC) Disaster Services', the famous American rapper Megan Thee Stallion and a renowned US representative Sheila Jackson Lee.

This project won a whopping $25K donation from Fashion Nova in support of its efforts to rebuild Houston after the tragic winter storm that left many people homeless and others with structural and plumbing issues.

As a part of restoring Houston, this donation would go towards rebuilding the home of a 75-year-old wheelchair-bound widow, Lolita C., alongside other projects in honor of women's history month, March. Let's find out how this donation was made.

In March 2021, Fashion Nova, a renowned online fashion brand launched in 2006 and one that has been on the front line in activism and awareness campaigns, joined hands with celebrated rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the launch of a women empowerment program called 'Women on Top.'

Fashion Nova and Megan raised $1M, which was to be distributed to different women-based organizations, foundations, and institutions between March 8 to March 31. Each beneficiary received $25K or more from the initiative.

The goal of this initiative that ran under the Fashion Nova Cares program was to empower women in different sectors by putting them a step closer to achieving their dreams. 

This mission is clear in a statement by Richard Saghian, Fashion Nova's founder and CEO, where he said, "At Fashion Nova, women empowerment and ongoing advocacy for diversity and inclusion have always been part of our guiding principles." He added, "We believe the world will be a better place when all women are provided the opportunity to maximize their potential. This program was created to give women greater advantage as they pursue their passions."

Fashion Nova announced this donation through a Facebook post that read, "We are happy to announce today's Women On Top recipient, @NACChelp and the Helping Houston Rebuild special project with Megan Thee Stallion @theestallion and US Representative Sheila Jackson Lee @repjacksonlee. NACC will use the $25,000 to rebuild the home of Lolita C., a 75-year-old wheelchair-bound widow. Additional projects are also underway."

This generous donation to help rebuild Houston follows other philanthropic initiatives all run under the Fashion Nova Cares umbrella.

The Fashion Nova Cares is a non-profit department of Fashion Nova born in April 2020 to take charge of all community-based activism and awareness campaigns.
