Some entrepreneurs like Richelieu Dennis have an inborn business passion.

All his family members are self-motivated business people. Just like Dennis was his mother's business partner, so were his father and grandmother. Richelieu is not only famous as an entrepreneur, but he also loves charity work and investing. He supports needy people using the cash raised through the Sundial brand.

Dennis partnered with his mother to create the foundation, which enabled them to promote philanthropic deeds through different initiatives, including Unilever. Dennis has achieved several professional and charitable accomplishments, as highlighted below;

Richelieu Dennis' Professional Achievements

Mr. Dennis' professional accomplishment started while studying at Babson college. When he qualified for a scholarship, Richelieu didn't know that it was the beginning of his professional success. While still in college, he sold shea butter products to his peers. His mother would make the products and supply them to Dennis for sale. He later used the proceeds to cater to personal expenses.

What Brought the Shea Butter Concept?

When Richelieu Dennis graduated from college, he thought he would return to Liberia and start farming citrus. However, that didn't happen. He established a company that manufactures personal care and beauty products. He decided to concentrate on shea butter since he had grown up using it during his early years. People used shea butter products to keep off the harmful sun's rays in their culture. From that, Dennis found the opportunity to commercialize shea butter products. That is what brought him the success he boasts of today.

Dennis Grew His College Business to a Vending Venture

Richelieu Dennis' mother attended her son's graduation. That was when they partnered to develop the college hustle into a vending venture in America. They made various shea butter products for sale in the locality.

How Dennis Finally Got a Breakthrough in Business

Most individuals couldn't understand how Dennis managed to operate a successful street business. Many of them had started similar businesses with no luck. According to Richelieu Dennis, only a few street business people had the kind of knowledge he had acquired in college. He understood the need to use Babson's education to produce and deliver products to customers in the area.

He partnered with his mother to supply customer orders using a co-owned vehicle. Their business grew to the extent that they started getting customers from other localities during market and trade fair days. After supplying products to food stores, Dennis and his mother thought about selling the items in retail.

From Street Vending to Owning a Company

After street vending for a decade and a half, Richelieu Dennis started a retail business. In 1991, he collaborated with his close friend and mother to establish Sundial Brands. He worked as the company's CEO and chairman for almost three decades. Within that period, the company grew tremendously under his headship. The company even introduced beauty and hair products to its customers. Dennis partnered with major retailers in the United States and started distributing the company products across the globe. In 2017, Dennis founded Essence Ventures LLC and served as its CEO, which he holds to date. He is also the founder of other companies and works as their CEO.

Richelieu Dennis' Charity Contributions

Since Richelieu Dennis was passionate about helping struggling individuals and communities, he started Sundial investments which helped millions of people through its supply network. The company provided funds in America to improve infrastructure, provide better healthcare services, provide workers with better salaries, and offer educational opportunities, among other things. That has made Sundial Brands get many accolades and certifications for providing support to society.

Richelieu Dennis' Expected Honorary

On May 8 this year, Dennis will attend Commencement at Babson College. He is set to address the school's undergraduates and share his achievements, experiences, and beliefs. He will also receive an Honorary degree during the ceremony. According to Dennis, the degree means a lot to him and his career. He appreciates the incredible recognition and successful partnership with the college officials, where he is also a board member.

He believes that the honorary means that he can inspire others from his community and areas he frequents. He can also become an inspiration to youths who can learn the value of working for more than building the economy. He plans to inspire young businesspeople from different communities to work not just for their benefit but to transform the world.

Richelieu Dennis is undoubtedly a person who has mastered the art of being a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist. He has left a lasting mark for the many years he has contributed to both areas because of his outstanding skills and expertise. From what people can learn from Richelieu Dennis, anyone from whichever locality can become what they aspire to and accomplish as much as they dream of as long as they work hard and smart.
