The Future Of Football: 5 Future Stars To Look Out For

Wonderkids are those special talents who fall below the age of 21 and have an exceptional footballing talent.

It can sometimes be hard to predict if these guys will actually go on to become the worlds best, often players believe their own hype and suffer accordingly. But we think these guys are here to stay. This is our list of the future of football. These lads have a wonderful talent and are near masters of their craft at such a young age that they are bound to have long illustrious careers. This is our 5 future stars to look out for.

1. Erling Haaland

He is unphased by anything and seems to have nothing holding him back. I am of course talking about Erling Haaland who has taken not only the Bundesliga but world football by storm. Dubbed to be the best of the next generation of footballers this prolific striker seems to have everything. Physically strong, delicate trickery and footwork combine with power and finesse to allow him to score an absolute plethora of goals. His game to goal ratio for such a young guy is astonishing and if he keeps up his rate of goals he is set to beat both Ronaldo and Messi’s goalscoring records - now that really is something. He continues to prove his worth even on the biggest stage of all - the Champions League - and is bound to secure a huge move to European elite in the near future.

2. Phil Foden

Whilst France are harnessing a Golden generation, so too are England. The promising rise of many top players in England is promising. For us, the most exciting player to come out of this development drive is Manchester City's Phil Foden. Pep was put under a lot of pressure when questions were asked about Foden, but he responded saying give him time. Time was given and Pep was right. Foden has turned into one of the best Attacking Midfielders in the league. His versatility and raw talent are clear to see. He has an abundance of skills which he utilises alongside his nifty movement to play anywhere from left to right, or even in a false 9. This stockport-born lad learned street football and took it to a whole new level. His talent is undeniable and he is bound to not only see a successful club career but also a long and prosperous career as an integral part of the England team.

3. Eduardo Camavinga

We are again back in France for yet another world class wonderkid, they seem to be harnessing a bit of a Golden generation at the moment. Camavinga seems to be spearheading this new wave of French talent through his immense playmaking skills which have gained him a lot of success and attention at his club Rennes. His performances week in week out for Rennes see him in a holding midfielder role but glimpse at the opportunity for him to mature into a truly great box-to-box player. His prowess in defence and both physical and mental ability allow for a surge in attack. Not only this, but he is also capable of producing some very special moments, not least of which was his goal for the French National side which saw him become the youngest scorer for France in over a century.

4. Alphonso Davies

Whilst people were aware of Alphonso Davies tearing apart the MLS for the Vancouver Whitecaps, many thought the then-winger was just a good player playing in a somewhat average league. No-one expected what would happen next. This outrageously fast and hugely talented footballer moved from the wing to further back, slotting into the left-back position at Bayern Munich following injuries to first-team players. This allowed Davies to explode into action and show not only Bayern Munich, but the world, that he meant business. Davies’ background story is as inspirational as his attitude on the pitch. A class act who will be sure to secure that position at Bayern Munich for years to come. With Davies being such an attacking full back, selecting both teams to score whenever he plays would be a safe bet.

5. Rayan Cherki

Lyon have a bit of a knack for nurturing immense talent within their ranks, with the likes of Lloris, Benzema and Umtiti to name but a few who have come through their youth system in recent years. It comes as no surprise that they have only gone and done it again with their most recent star who looks set to take the world by storm. He has received the backing of Mbappe and has shown Ligue 1 that he means business with the little time he has had on the pitch. Rayan Cherki, only 17, is the youngest scorer of a goal in a Lyon shirt and despite only receiving a small amount of gametime, looks set to take the French League and indeed the world by storm.
