Why are Cybersecurity Roles Confusing?

The roles in cybersecurity are constantly evolving, making it difficult for those who are seeking careers and those organizations posting jobs.

One simple question "what are the roles and what do they do?" leads to a discussion of frustration. Yet, there are resources available, depending how deep you really want to know the answers.

The cybersecurity field is dynamic and the roles and responsibilities are ever changing. 

People coming into the cybersecurity field often expect clearly defined positions and are surprised at the significant variance when looking at job descriptions or talking with professionals. 

It is a chaotic and confusing mess. But, if you are interested, there are several good resources to begin deciphering the basic categories and breadth of roles. There are even resources for those seeking more depth to understand the abilities, knowledge, skills, and capability indicators.

    Cybersecurity is confusing for those that aren't online, but if you have a website or manage a small business then you know exactly its importance. The internet wouldn't be successful without cybersecurity experts, they are the ones policing. Good video.
