Leadership presence, that illusive but “we know it when we see it” quality, is a blending of personal and interpersonal skills that when combined, send all the right signals and make you stand out.

It’s how you show up, how you make others feel, and how effectively you communicate both verbally and non-verbally.

That's what it is. Here is what leadership presence is not:

1. It is not an attribute that is automatically assigned to you because of your title or business results.
2. It is not necessarily reflective of your true leadership qualities or potential.

Instead, it depends entirely on how other people in the workplace evaluate you. Looking like a leader, being perceived as a leader, when you interact with customers, staff, peers, and senior executives is the essence of leadership presence. Since it is totally dependent on the impression you make on others, enhancing leadership presence requires a deep understanding of the impact of your appearance, your body language, your emotional state, and how well you to communicate your key messages.

In this session, you'll learn how to project the 5 qualities of leadership presence: Credibility, confidence, Composure, Connection, Charisma, and you'll discover the communication habits you've fallen into that enhance -- or reduce -- your ability to look like the talented leader you truly are.

For example, you may be highly credible but that doesn’t necessarily guarantee that people perceive you as such. Especially if you have communication habits (minimizing, qualifying, up-speaking, etc.) that make you seem less credible than you are.

Habits that increase your credibility include making your main point before you offer explanation or example. It’s not that you always have to communicate in this way, but if you don’t have that skill for the times you need it, then you’re going to struggle to retain the attention of your audience. “Getting to the point” is just not a nice-to-have communication habit, it’s crucial to being perceived as credible.
