Detox Tips for a Healthier Body

Don't plan to detox if you are sick. You want to start this detox when your body and organs are healthy so you don't tax your immune system as it's trying to heal you.

Don't detox if you are doing it just because it's the popular thing to do do it because you are trying to make a change to a healthier lifestyle. If you just plan to go back to eating and drinking how you used to before, then you may want to reconsider your ultimate goal in detoxing. Look at the cleansing as a transition to your healthiest self.

Don't plan to go through a detox if you have an eating disorder or have a history of binge dieting.

Ask yourself what is your motivation for wanting to detox. Be true to yourself, and be mindful of your body and feelings throughout the process.

Start taking steps now to decrease your toxic load. Cut back on sugar, caffeine, processed foods, fried foods, red meat, alcohol, and perfume or scented lotions. This may be a good time to consider quitting smoking. This preparation will help to support your organs with the cleansing process as you get closer to starting your 3-Day Detox.

Start drinking more water. The optimum amount is half your body weight in ounces per day. You can work up to this amount if you don't drink much water.

You can enhance your circulation during detox with daily light exercises, such as walking, yoga, or tai chi. Do not engage in strenuous physical exercise as your system is working hard to cleanse. You may also notice a decrease in energy level and this is normal. Treat yourself to some relaxation.

Bathe with Epsom salts. This helps with circulation and allows your body to absorb magnesium, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain and muscle cramps. It will also help prevent migraine headaches. You may get a headache during a detox and this is a normal part of the process. It's likely due to detoxing from caffeine.

Get a minimum of 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleeps so your body can replenish and restore.
