The Art Of Hustling

The Art Of Hustling

The Art Of Hustling

As famously said by Gary Vaynerchuk: "Legacy is greater than currency. Without hustle, your talent will only get you so far."

I remember this very vividly. It feels as if this was a conversation that we had yesterday. In 2018, I did an interview with Gary Vaynerchuk and in that episode, he shared with me these golden nuggets.

1) It Takes 21 Years To Success

Be patient. Overnight success is really overrated. Like what he has mentioned to me on The Raygacy Show, the biggest mistake that many people make is that they don't realize that it'll take 21 years to succeed. For some, it might be 3 years or so to become successful but if you think you need 21 years to become successful, you'll start to appreciate that nothing comes easy and fast. You'll start to love and even enjoy the process of going through obstacles and failures along the way.

2) Posting On Social Media Doesn't Make You Rich

Now the thing is this, many people thought that they are going to post a couple of posts on Linkedin & Instagram and they think that 6 months later, they are going to be on a yacht.

But that's not gonna happen in reality. Gary said very clearly that he wants the pain and the process because he has patience. Look, social media will have you rushing your goals and the thing is this, not everything you see on the internet and social media is real.

Remember, comparison is the thief of joy. It doesn't mean that this guy/girl can be a Millionaire by 30 means you got to. Different people have different ways of life and priorities.

Give yourself the time and remember to keep the pace. Don't rush because of the pandemic or whatever other people have to say about you and your goals.

3) The Clouds & Dirt

I realized that many of us have been buying into the lie of instant gratification- how people do not like to do the work and then get rewarded instantly due to their wishful thinking or the "financial gurus" that they've been following. They thought that striking the lottery or gambling would leave them with massive bank accounts. They thought entrepreneurship is so artsy and classy that they can showcase their Lamborghini on Instagram or TikTok without that long hours of grind and hustle.

In my opinion, this is what I truly believe in. We need to put in countless hours of practice, work, and trying then we are able to taste the sweetness of the fruits that we've borne. Nothing comes easy at first but if you are willing to step up to the next level, then you'll be rewarded handsomely.

Hence, you have to sacrifice the time now and you'll get positive rewards later. Like the old Chinese adage says "先苦后甜"。

Remember: Sacrifice the time now and you'll get positive rewards later.
