IM Academy Launches New Stocks and Futures Academy

IM Academy is an online platform that offers educational resources on a variety of markets, market engagement strategies, and ecommerce.

The Academy’s latest offering is the Stocks and Futures (SFX) Academy, which focuses on stocks and futures markets by highlighting engagement strategies based on Fibonacci retracement levels, patterns used to analyze market activity charts and indicate where resistance and support are likely to occur. Launched on Sept. 7 and designed by experienced analyst Carolyn Boroden, IM Academy’s SFX Academy aims to provide students with an opportunity to study time-based and pattern-based approaches to stocks and futures markets. 

What Are Stocks and Futures?

Futures are financial contracts that require the holder to exchange an asset in the future when it reaches a particular fixed price. 

Stocks refer to publicly exchanged ownership shares of a company. Market participants can exchange these ownership shares as prices fluctuate based on market activity and the company’s performance and future outlook. 

At SFX Academy, IM Academy students learn about stocks as well as exchange traded funds. ETFs pool a basket of assets into a single unit that can be valued and exchanged on stock exchanges just like a stock in an individual company. ETFs may track indexes such as the S&P 500, sectors such as energy or tech, commodities such as wheat or oil, gold and silver, currencies, or other assets.

Carolyn Boroden brings over 40 years of experience as an analyst and advisor to IM Academy. Known as the “Fibonacci Queen,” Boroden is the author of Fibonacci Trading: How to Master the Time and Price Ad

vantage and is a frequent guest on CNBC’s Mad Money With Jim Cramer. She specializes in applying Fibonacci ratios to chart analysis in various markets, utilizing a time-based approach to market engagement.

The SFX Academy is Boroden’s first collaboration with IM Mastery Academy co-founder Christopher Terry, but her approach to markets is in line with similar time-based and pattern-based approaches covered in other IM Academy courses at its Foreign Exchange (FRX) Academy, Digital Currency Exchange (DCX) Academy, and Time-Based Exchange (TBX) Academy.

Boroden has spent years studying and applying analytical strategies based on the application of ratios derived from the Fibonacci sequence of numbers to market activity. The Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers in which each number in the series is the sum of the two numbers preceding it. The series is infinite, but, for example, its first five numbers are: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3.

In terms of applications to market analysis, the significance of the Fibonacci sequence lies in the ratios that can be discovered by analyzing it. For instance, each number in the Fibonacci sequence is 1.618 times larger than the number that precedes it, with 1.618 known as a “golden ratio” capable of describing many patterns found throughout art and nature. Market participants utilizing this ratio apply it, its inverse, and other ratios that can be derived from Fibonacci numbers to identify high and low points in market charts analyzed according to specific time frames.

This process is known as Fibonacci retracement because it uses these ratios to indicate the likelihood of pivot points in pricing, points in market activity at which prices will dip or rise to retrace back to a previous point in line with the ratio that is applied.

How Does SFX Academy Work?

Like other online education academies offered by IM Academy, SFX Academy is designed to educate students through a combination of asynchronous learning materials such as readings and pre-recorded videos, as well as live mentorship opportunities through GoLive online video sessions with IM Academy educators.

In addition, it offers apps that students can access via smartphone or laptop to aid in the educational process. This includes IM Academy’s newest app, IMPulse, which uses proprietary methods to distill over 50 market variables and display a single arrow that indicates market momentum based on strength and direction of activity at a variety of timescales.

The videos and readings offered via SFX Academy provide a scaffolded approach, building from the basics of stocks and futures to more complex strategies and analysis. Topics range from overviews of market participants, assets, and order types available in the stocks and futures markets, to the analysis of market charts using candlestick and Elliott Wave patterns.

What’s Next for IM Academy?

The launch of SFX Academy is the latest in a series of new programs launched by IM Academy in 2022. It follows the May launch of the TBX Academy and the June launch of the Travel and Lifestyle Experience (TLX) membership program, which offers members the opportunity to book hotels and resorts at discounted rates and participate in themed trips with other members and IM Academy educators.

IM Mastery Academy CEO Christopher Terry also completed an extensive European speaking tour in 2022, engaging with individuals interested in IM Academy’s offerings in countries ranging from Portugal to Poland. Terry reflected on the tour in a recent post on his Facebook page.

“After traveling to 12+ countries during this recent Europe tour, it reoccurred to me that 90-95% of the people in this world are still programmed a certain way. Unfortunately, this program is on the side of lack, limitation, struggle, setbacks, hardships. However, as creative beings, we have a choice. We can choose the thoughts to think, the affirmations to speak, and the actions to take.”

Terry’s goal is to grow IM Academy through this mindset of positivity and an emphasis on the value of education. The Academy, which was founded in 2013, is nearing its 10th anniversary and continues to expand and gain members internationally. It offers its programs in several languages, including Mandarin, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Polish.
