Cedric the Entertainer and Wilmer Valderrama have officially announced the nominees for the highly anticipated 81st Golden Globe Awards.

The ceremony is scheduled to air live on CBS on January 7. For UK viewers, you can tune in to the award ceremony from 1am on the morning of the 8th through the streaming service Paramount+.

2023 has been an incredible year for entertainment, witnessing groundbreaking achievements in creativity and individuality across film and television, and notably, music.  

Wealth of Geeks analysed the Spotify streaming statistics of each nominee in the ‘Best Original Song’ category for Motion Picture, as well as their estimated earning potential based on Spotify’s pay per stream which is estimated at £0.0028. 

The most streamed song of the nominees is "Dance the Night" by Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, Dua Lipa, and Caroline Ailin in Barbie. This track has been streamed an impressive 568,359,111 times, resulting in a staggering earning potential of £1,567,832.82 from Spotify alone. 

Another nominated song featuring in Barbie is "What Was I Made For?" by Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell, which has been played an astounding 503,707,495 times on Spotify, resulting in significant earnings of £1,389,489.72. 

The iconic "Peaches" by Jack Black, Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic, Eric Osmond, and John Spiker from The Super Mario Bros. Movie secures the next nomination, boasting 120,710,289 Spotify streams and earning a whopping £332,982.35. 

Completing the Barbie trio of nominated songs is "I'm Just Ken" by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, amassing an outstanding 94,118,931 Spotify plays and earning a huge £259,629.43 from the platform alone. 

Next is "Addicted to Romance" by Bruce Springsteen in the blockbuster She Came to Me, with an impressive 946,953 Spotify streams and an earnings figure of £2,612.20 from the platform. 

Among the nominated songs, Lenny Kravitz’s “Road to Freedom” in Rustin received the least number of Spotify streams, totalling 257,634, resulting in an estimated £710.69 from the platform.  

A spokesperson for Wealth of Geeks commented on the findings: “This data analysis highlights the impact that our favourite movies have had in 2023. Each nominated song has been streamed at a significantly high volume, thus revealing the audience’s enjoyment of the movie off-screen. 

“It is also fascinating to calculate the potential earnings of each nominated song, as they demonstrate the success of each movie and the popularity of its respective music.”
