'Suicide Squad Refund' Searches Soar 791% Globally After Major Bug Disrupts Early Access Launch

Analysis of Google Trends search data reveals that online searches for ‘Suicide Squad refund’ exploded by 903% globally on the 30th of January.

Shortly after the highly anticipated early access launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a bug emerged which forced Rocksteady Studios to take down servers for emergency maintenance.

Conducted by McLuck, the analysis revealed that following the midnight launches in each time zone, there was also a 936% surge in global searches for ‘Suicide Squad bug’.

The percentage surge was determined through Google Trends, specifically by searching for the term ‘Suicide Squad refund.' By establishing the global average search rate over the previous 7 days, we could calculate the percentage increase for the peak rate, recorded at 93 on the 30th of January. This methodology was also employed for worldwide searches.

Unimpressed early-access players faced full story completion upon logging on, which meant certain game features and story spoilers would have been unlocked. As the game is online-only, even the single-player portion was unplayable.

A spokesperson for McLuck commented on the findings: "The glitch-ridden launch not only left players grappling with technical issues but also prematurely exposed the game's central narrative, dampening the essence of the entire experience. Early adopters, who had anticipated a seamless and engaging storyline, now find themselves facing the unintended consequences of a rushed release.

With a lack of clarity on potential refunds for those who invested extra money for early access, players are also urging Rocksteady Studios to implement offline modes to combat any future unforeseen online disruptions.

This situation serves as a stark reminder of the paramount importance of delivering a polished product, coupled with transparent communication and responsive customer support, to uphold the trust and satisfaction of Suicide Squad fans.”
