Arne Slot Appointed as Liverpool Manager to Succeed Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool FC has appointed Feyenoord's Arne Slot as their new manager, succeeding Jurgen Klopp.

Slot, 45, was secured through a £9.4 million compensation deal with Feyenoord in April, and his tenure at Liverpool will officially commence on June 1, pending a work permit.

Jurgen Klopp, who managed Liverpool since October 2015, departed following the season's final victory against Wolves. In his farewell, the 56-year-old German encouraged fans to support Slot, even leading a chant in his name.

His tenure at AZ Alkmaar saw the team in second place, level on points with Ajax, before the COVID-19 pandemic halted the season. Slot was dismissed in December 2020 due to negotiations with Feyenoord, where he subsequently took over in the summer of 2021.

Liverpool also considered other candidates, including former player Xabi Alonso, who led Bayer Leverkusen to a Bundesliga title but confirmed his stay with the German club in March. Ruben Amorim of Sporting Lisbon was another contender after Klopp announced his departure at the end of the 2023-24 season.
