The rediscovery of the 101-year-old silent film initially increased pageviews on the actress’ Wikipedia page by 85% on March 10th, followed by a further 45% the next day. Overall, compared to the average daily page views, the findings revealed that there was a 178% increase in pageviews overall.

The late actress also received an incredible 3,870% increase in Wikipedia pageviews in February 2024 following the tracklist reveal of Taylor Swift’s upcoming album, where the final track is named after Clara Bow.

Furthermore, the actress also received a 108% increase in Google searches following the discovery of the film, according to Google Trends data.

A spokesperson has commented on these findings:

"Clara Bow was an actress best known for her work in the silent film era, most notably from the film It (1927), where the term 'It Girl' derived from. She is also the main inspiration for the appearance of Max Fleischer's cartoon character, Betty Boop. Knowing this can explain why Taylor Swift named a track from her album after the actress, resulting in over 74,000 people wanting to know who Clara Bow is."

"Furthermore, it is fascinating how, a month later, interest peaks again due to the discovery of a century-old film, which will be screened for the first time in 101 years at the San Fransisco Silent Film Festival in April this year. This silent film is a piece of American history that can now be restored, and new generations can watch and appreciate, all thanks to the ‘Taylor Swift effect’."
