Ozempic Lawsuit: Who is Eligible

Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer of Ozempic, is now facing major lawsuits.

Ozempic is the brand name of Semaglutide, a new weight management drug that has been found to be a credible anti-obesity medication.

This drug has been popular among Americans fighting diabetes and excess weight. However, Ozempic, a drug produced and distributed in the States for the management of type 2 diabetes, has been sued for negative side effects reported by dozens of users.

Ozempic Lawsuit Allegations

Reported side effects include gastroparesis, vomiting, stomachache, and gallbladder disease. Following these reports, users who have experienced adverse symptoms are taking legal action against the manufacturer.

Plaintiffs who have appeared before the court have mostly linked the medication to gastroparesis, a dangerous side effect. This is a chronic illness that causes the muscles and the nerves in the abdominal wall to weaken. The severity hampers the transfer of food from the stomach to the small intestines.

The user may then experience intestinal obstruction, resulting in diarrhea and nausea. Since gastroparesis is incurable, patients may face potential lifetime management.

Ozempic Lawsuit Defense

Novo Nordisk has so far made an attempt to protect its drug. The company has released a public statement, claiming that Ozempic has thoroughly been tested and is safe for consumption.

While downplaying the severity of the side effects, the company stated that the drug may cause mild to moderate gastrointestinal effects in some users. According to the manufacturer, the said side effects are stated on the warning label.

Who is Eligible for the Ozempic Lawsuit?

If you have used this drug and suffered severe side effects, you are a candidate for this legal battle. The court may order compensation for expenses used during the treatment of an illness triggered by Ozempic.

However, the complainant must prove that the drug used was from Novo Nordisk. In 2023, Denmark-based Novo Nordisk claimed that there was another manufacturer releasing a counterfeit Ozempic drug in the US, which was then linked to major side effects.

Attorneys are accepting cases of users who have experienced severe side effects from the drug for more than a month. Plaintiffs are advised to discuss their allegations with an attorney for guidance and the evaluation of the case. Damages from an Ozempic claim that you may be eligible for include medical bills, loss of wages, permanent disability benefits and pain and suffering.

The lawsuits facing Novo Nordisk are likely to introduce major implications for the company. It will mean strict regulations during the distribution and marketing of any drug from Novo Nordisk.
