By analyzing Spotify streams for all of Swift’s albums, the study multiplied the total number of streams by the average earnings per stream ($0.004) to determine the most profitable albums.

"Lover" tops the list, having earned almost $39.5 million from nearly 10 billion streams.

Released in 2019, "Lover" is Taylor Swift’s seventh studio album and her first after departing from Big Machine Records, a move that sparked a public dispute over the ownership of her previous albums. Despite the controversy, "Lover" became her sixth consecutive Billboard 200 number-one album and was the best-selling album of 2019. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified it triple platinum, cementing its success.

In second place is "Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition)," which has made Swift $34.7 million in just two years, thanks to its 8.67 billion streams. The original version of "Midnights" was released in 2022 with 13 tracks. The "Til Dawn Edition," released a year later, includes 10 additional songs, featuring collaborations with Ice Spice on "Karma" and Lana Del Rey on an extended version of "Snow On The Beach."

"1989 (Deluxe)" ranks third, earning almost $32 million from nearly 8 billion streams. Considered one of Swift’s most popular albums, "1989" is the last album she released before taking a one-and-a-half-year break following a tumultuous period of public scrutiny. Despite not directly owning this album, Swift still receives royalties from its streams. The success of "1989" significantly contributed to her fame, which many believe led to the intense media scrutiny she faced at the time.

Further down the list, "reputation" is fourth, with 7.72 billion streams and $30.9 million earned. Released in 2017, this album marked Swift’s comeback after her break, showcasing a more assertive and confident persona. The album includes 15 tracks, many of which are love songs inspired by her then-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn.

Rounding out the top five is "folklore: the long pond studio sessions (from the Disney+ special) [deluxe edition]," which earned Swift $30.76 million from 7.69 billion streams. This alternative version of her 2020 album "folklore" is her fourth live album and first soundtrack album, released alongside a Disney+ movie.

Marc Porcar, CEO of QR Code Generator PRO S.L, commented on the findings: "Taylor Swift’s influence and popularity never ceases to amaze. While it’s only right for artists to get paid for their work, it’s astonishing to see how much a singer can make with just one album. In the case of Miss Swift and her indomitable Swifties, this can only be emphasized even more."

Porcar also highlighted the impressive performance of Swift's re-recorded albums, noting, "What is really interesting to see is how the top 10 includes three of her re-recordings: 'Red (Taylor’s Version),' 'Fearless (Taylor’s Version),' and '1989 (Taylor's Version) [Deluxe].' This is a testament not only to the singer’s hard work and commitment to her art but also to her fandom’s dedication and loyalty. Despite these being three of her most popular albums, in the case of 'Red' and 'Fearless,' they managed to get more streams and earnings than their original counterparts."

At the other end of the scale, "Live From Clear Channel Stripped 2008" has only netted Taylor $33,942.49, making it the least profitable album in her discography on Spotify.

This study underscores Taylor Swift's significant earning power through streaming platforms and highlights the unwavering support of her fanbase. Her strategic re-recording of albums to regain control of her music rights has not only been a commercial success but also a powerful statement in the music industry.

Taylor Swift's earnings from Spotify illustrate her remarkable success and the loyalty of her fans. "Lover" leads the way with $39.5 million, followed closely by "Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition)" and "1989 (Deluxe)." The inclusion of her re-recorded albums in the top 10 further demonstrates her strategic acumen and the enduring appeal of her music.
