The world of gaming can be a magical one.

There are genuine friendships to be made, stunning worlds to explore, and intricate storylines to follow along.

There are adventure games, team-based games, horror games, competitive games, and many more. An entire community has sprung up surrounding gaming at large. There are even communities developing around specific games. As these communities grow, more and more gaming accessories are becoming widely available. The following will explore some of the more essential gaming accessories for you or the gamer in your life.

A High-Quality Chair

Yes, this one doesn’t seem that exciting, but it is really important. Some gamers devote hours to forty-man raids or spend days building a perfect strategy for their guild to use when the server portals open up. Sitting for extended periods can do damage to your back and neck which can have long-term effects on your health and well-being. Yoga balls and ergonomic chairs are both excellent choices for your gaming seat.

Making sure that you have a good quality chair to sit in can also help ensure you’re able to game for years to come. It’s much harder to focus when you have extreme back pain distracting you from the game. It is also important to note that whatever chair you decide to go with should be set up according to the height of your desk. Take a few minutes to figure out what height your chair should be set at and adjust accordingly. Future you will be grateful for it.

A Gaming Playmat

A playmat is basically like a giant mousepad, but it’s also so much more. YPM playmats will protect your desk from the wear and tear that comes with gaming, but it will also make sure that nothing slips around on your desk while you’re playing. This can be especially important during PVP gaming. You don’t want your keyboard or mouse or even your monitor shifting about. This could mean the difference between a win and a loss in a dexterity or speed-based game.

Headphones With A Built-In Microphone

Having a good quality microphone is a must for games when you’re playing with or against people on the internet. As it turns out, socially-based games are some of the most popular around the world. Teams cannot accomplish as much when they’re having trouble hearing each other or there is fuzz messing with the sound they can hear. Do yourself and your gaming buddies a favor and make sure that you have high-quality headphones with a built-in microphone.

Gaming Glasses

Out of everything on this list, gaming glasses are probably the least well-known gaming accessory. Don’t think this means that they are not important. They are crucial, especially for those who spend many hours each day gaming. Screens let off something called blue light and this is extremely harmful to your eyes (and your circadian rhythm, which is what monitors your hormone productions). Because of this, game enthusiasts have developed something called gaming glasses. They filter the damaging light bouncing off your screen to make sure that your eyes stay sharp for years to come. You’ll also likely notice you get a better night’s rest if you’ve been wearing them. That is why it is very important to know what are blue light glasses.

A Gaming Monitor

This one almost goes without saying, but we all have that one friend who games on a little screen and confuses us. Now, this doesn’t mean that a bigger monitor is always better. Depending on how close you’re sitting to the screen and how high up it will be will influence your gaming abilities. Take some time to find the right-sized gaming monitor for your space, and also for the games that you most like playing.

An Air Purifier

This might seem like a really strange one to include on the list, but for some reason, most people’s gaming room tends to be a little out of the way in the home. Take any small room (especially a small room in the basement) and keep someone in it for eight hours straight and the air is going to start to get a little smelly and a little less oxygen-rich. Plugging in an air filter or, if the room is bright enough, setting up some house plants can make a big difference to how focused you feel on gaming hour six.

With the above list in mind, you’re well on your way to being fully prepared for frequent and lengthy gaming sessions. Make sure that you’re always taking care of your back, neck, and eyes while gaming. You don’t want to be unable to play future games because you were too hard on your body in the present.
