Buckingham Palace has announced that King Charles and Queen Consort will be embarking on their first official trips as monarchs.

The six-day trip will begin on March 26 and will include visits to Paris, Berlin, and Hamburg.

During his visit to Berlin, the King will address the Bundestag, becoming the first British monarch to give a speech in the German parliament.

The royal couple will also attend a state banquet at the Elysee Palace in Paris, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, and meet with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Queen Elizabeth II made 261 official visits overseas during her reign, with her last state visit being to Paris and Normandy in June 2014.

King Charles's choice of European countries for his first state visits is seen as significant in helping to restore frayed relations since Brexit.

The upcoming state visits had been widely reported in France and Germany and were confirmed by Buckingham Palace after the King's meeting with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, at Windsor Castle.

King Charles has the opportunity to bring a fresh perspective and approach to the monarchy, potentially making it more relevant and meaningful in the modern era.

The monarchy has a long history of charitable work, and King Charles can continue this legacy by focusing on causes that are important to him. For example, he has long been a champion of environmental causes and could use his platform to raise awareness and advocate for solutions to pressing environmental issues.

King Charles has the opportunity to modernize the monarchy and bring it into the 21st century. This could include embracing technology and social media to connect with younger generations, promoting sustainability and environmental initiatives, and working towards a more diverse and inclusive monarchy.

By making diplomatic trips abroad and building relationships with other world leaders, the King can help to promote peace and cooperation between nations. The monarchy has long played a role in strengthening international relations, and King Charles can continue this tradition.

In recent years, there has been a push for greater transparency in the monarchy. King Charles could work towards making the monarchy more accountable to the public by providing greater transparency about its finances and decision-making processes.

King Charles can bring new ideas and approaches to the monarchy. For example, he could introduce new technologies to improve communication and efficiency within the royal household, or explore new ways of engaging with the public. Education has always been a priority for the monarchy, and King Charles can continue this focus by promoting access to education and supporting initiatives that help young people succeed.

As a unifying figure, King Charles can help to bring together people from different backgrounds and communities. He can use his position to promote unity and understanding, and work towards building a more harmonious society.

The monarchy has a rich history and tradition, but it is also important to adapt and change with the times. King Charles can work towards striking a balance between honoring the past and embracing the future, by ensuring that the monarchy remains relevant and meaningful to future generations.
