Impressionable Legacy Messaging

As famously said by Maya Angelou: "If you're going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that can't be erased."

As entrepreneurs, what we do today is not about today, it's about tomorrow. Because all of us want to build a better future for our lives, our families, and our businesses.

In this article, I'll share with you the advice that Ravi Chandran, Ph.D. gave me on the secrets to his enormous success in terms of cross-cultural communication, which enabled him to adapt to a variety of environments, and how he was able to speak in 27 countries.

1. Cross-Cultural Communication

According to Ravi Chandran, Ph.D., communication is a process. This process is not something that's automatically acquired. It is something that can be developed as a skill over time. He also shared that there's such a thing called Cross-Cultural communication. That is where 2 different cultures meet. As we are living in a global society, there is a meeting of cultures. Lack of understanding between the cultures would lead to a confrontation. This can be easily avoided as long as 2 cultures are able to communicate their stand and enhance each other's differences.

2) Be In-Tune With Your Talents

For individuals who are just starting out or attempting something new, Ravi Chandran, Ph.D. advises caution and being aware of your talent and gifts that are unique to you. He firmly believes that every single individual on this planet has incredibly unique traits and talents that were made specifically for them. He added that sometimes many people will try to imitate the success of somebody else. An example will be if a fish tries to fly, then it'll feel like it's a total failure and if a bird tries to swim underwater, it'll think the same way too. Therefore, we need to identify what our strengths, talents and goals are which will make us successful naturally when we walk in that path. Ps: Everybody's good at something, it's just that you haven't figured out what's yours yet. Go and enjoy this journey of figuring things out and go do you!

3) Embrace Failures

"Of course you'll make mistakes. Of course people will fall! That's the power of life. But just because you fall once, it doesn't mean you have to stick on the same spot. You get up, dust yourself and you move on again!" Ravi Chandran, Ph.D.

It's okay to fail but it doesn't mean that's the end. You just gotta keep trying. Reframe your mindset and know that failures are not a waste of your effort and time. They are just another lesson learned and experience gained. As the saying goes: "Failure is constructive feedback that tells you to try a different approach to accomplish what you want". With this in mind, then you can go forward and do well in life.

Remember: Life is a journey. But it's always a choice that we make as to which destination we want to go to. In the process of going towards your journey and destination, remember to enjoy the ride. You don't have to be in first class to have a smile or laugh. You can be in economy class and still have a smile and a laugh. The plane will get to the destination. Don't plan to be happy when you achieve your goals. Instead, be happy as much as possible and enjoy the journey towards your own success. Like what ex America's Got Talent contestant, Nightbirde has famously said: "You can't wait until life isn't hard anymore before you decide to be happy".
