A recent study has analyzed several metrics to determine which cities and towns in the UK have the most love for films.

The results showcase the preferences and interests of different regions, shedding light on the genres that captivate their attention the most. Additionally, the study reveals that horror movies are the dominant favorite across most cities, while a couple of exceptions show unique genre preferences.

While horror films were overwhelmingly the most searched genre in most cities, two exceptions stood out. In Carlisle, War films took the top spot, while St. Albans residents displayed a preference for Documentaries. These cities showcase how unique tastes and interests can vary across different regions.

However, a few cities stand out with their unique interests in War films and Documentaries. 1. Canterbury - The Horror Haven

Taking the top spot is Canterbury, with an impressive average monthly search volume of 1,748 movie-related terms per 100,000 people. Horror stands as the city's favorite genre, attracting an average monthly search volume of 377 per 100,000 people.

2. Bath - Delighting in Horror and Animation

In the second place is Bath, with an average monthly search volume of 1,734 per 100,000 people. Like Canterbury, Bath's residents favor horror movies with a monthly search volume of 356 per 100,000 people. Notably, animated movies also hold a significant appeal with an average monthly search volume of 252 per 100,000 people.

3. Lancaster - A Taste for Horror and Documentaries

Ranking third is Lancaster, boasting an average monthly search volume of 1,602 per 100,000 people. Horror remains a dominant genre here with a search volume of 324 per 100,000 people. However, Lancaster residents also show a keen interest in animated films (195 per 100,000 people) and documentaries (163 per 100,000 people).

4. Liverpool - Horror and Animated Fascination

Securing the fourth spot is Liverpool, with an average monthly search volume of 1,439 per 100,000 people. Once again, horror movies take center stage with a monthly search volume of 382 per 100,000 people. Animated films also enjoy considerable attention, garnering a search volume of 217 per 100,000 people.

5. Preston - Strong Popularity for Horror Films

Preston lands in fifth place, boasting an average monthly search volume of 1,406 per 100,000 people. Unsurprisingly, horror movies maintain their popularity here with a search volume of 341 per 100,000 people.

6 & 7. Inverness and Blackburn - Horror Movies Are Captivating the Public

Inverness and Blackburn secure the sixth and seventh positions, respectively, with average monthly search volumes of 1,403 and 1,323 per 100,000 people. Horror continues to be the genre of choice in these cities, captivating movie enthusiasts.

8 & 9. Lincoln and Birmingham - Enthusiasm Unabated

Lincoln and Birmingham claim the eighth and ninth positions, respectively, with average monthly search volumes of 1,371 and 1,370 per 100,000 people. Both cities showcase their love for horror movies.

10. Manchester - A Love for Movies Prevails

Finally, Manchester rounds off the top ten with an average monthly search volume of 1,352 per 100,000 people, maintaining its reputation as a city with a strong affinity for films.
