Why Reading Can Make You A Better Entrepreneur

When was the last time you read a book or a substantial magazine article?

Do your daily reading habits center around tweets, Facebook updates, or the directions on your instant oatmeal packet?

I’ve found that no matter what I read, the act of reading every day has helped me in nearly every aspect of my life. If you’re one of the countless people who don’t make a habit of reading regularly, you might be missing out: reading has a significant number of benefits, and just a few benefits of reading are listed below.

1) Reading Reduces Stress

Burying your head in a book is a great way of taking your focus of attention off your everyday troubles and worries for a while as it transports you to seemingly better places of dream-like and fantasy worlds. When I’m reading a book, my mind shifts gears. When I might have had a stressful day, a book can easily distract me. Fiction books such as Roald Dahl’s classic Charlie and The Chocolate Factory are fantastic for this. Please remember to check the time when reading your favorite novels.

2) All Influential Leaders and Successful People Read

Yeap, you’ve got that right. Books are very powerful, they change and transform lives. Nearly all successful people will tell you that there is at least one book that they read that completely turned around and transformed their life. As for me, I began to take reading seriously after watching Tai Lopez’s videos on the importance of reading in 2014.

I’m currently reading my 7th book titled ‘The Younger Self Letters’ by 30 amazing entrepreneurs including me which I highly recommend you to buy and read. What I’m saying is that I’m not forcing you to read a book a day which was suggested by Tai himself. What I’m suggesting here is that reading can allow you to learn more and also learn from the respective experts on topics that are new to you. This is what many of the great leaders of our time, such as Barack Obama have done.

If you are someone who likes to take it slow and easy like me when it comes to reading, then start by reading 1 book a month. American entrepreneur, creator, and businessman Steve Jobs in one of his famous quotes states the importance of reading. He stated that reading and learning are so critical to success.

3) Reading Helps You To Grow

The benefits of reading are enormous. You'll get inspired by certain literature. Reading about other people's success stories or how they have overcome near seemingly impossible feats that needed tremendous guts and tenacity might inspire you to pursue your goals with the assurance that if they have previously been accomplished, you can too.

Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.

Richard Steele

Reading is important, everybody who wants to better their life should read a book every month. When we stop learning we stop growing and in this life, you do one of two things, you either move forward in life or you stay where you are.

You can never stop learning and there is an endless supply of knowledge, information, and entertainment available in the form of books, so forget about your daily troubles for a while and lose yourself in a good book.

The more you read the wiser you will become and the more you will know. Many people struggle to find the time to read but because there are so many advantages of reading, it pays for you to find somewhere quiet where you can have some much-needed and valuable rest for you to shut yourself off in this sometimes hectic world we live in.

When most people try to relax normally they find it hard to switch off their racing minds. Sometimes it can be difficult for some people to simply shut off their thoughts. This is where the benefits of reading come into play, you can get that much-needed rest and you can keep the mind occupied at the same time. The beauty of this is you get your relaxation and you can learn at the same time. This will keep the mind nourished and enriched, and it will improve your memory and concentration at the same time so you cannot lose.

A book is a dream that you hold in your hand.

Neil Gaiman

If you need a solution to a problem then it is better to learn and study from those who have already got the answers to what you are looking for rather than starting from scratch and trying to figure it all out yourself.

No time to read? No money for books?

If you think that you don’t have enough time to start reading, you’re wrong.

How do I know? Because we make time for the things that are important to us. How much TV do you watch? How much time do you spend trawling the web? You could easily replace reading with those activities. If you’re worried about the cost of books, check them out at the local library or you can borrow them from your colleagues or friends. I’m sure they are more than willing to lend you. There’s really no excuse to start reading on a regular basis. The benefits far outweigh the costs, and more knowledge never hurts anybody. Remember: The more you learn, the more you earn.

Here’s to you and your journey in finding good books to read plus applying what you’ve learned from them!

A book is like a garden, carried in the pocket .
