Actions That Will Make your Workday Better and Meaningful

Do you define your workday something as “chaos”? Many people, define their day as chaotic and feel their work as a “job”. These people are consciously making an effort throughout their day to make it a meaningful day.

If someone was to ask me, “What does a good day look like to you?” “Do you live you everyday fully?” I would be pretty much excited to answer this.

Make your work environment a happy place. Switch to ProofHub.

The definition of a good day varies from a person to person and here is mine. My version of a good day is simply related to my work day ― when the work doesn't suck, when ProofHub gets a good number of clients, all projects are on track, and life is completely balanced. And what’s the secret to such a blissful day? Definitely, my actions and habits.

If you are the one looking for inspiration for a purposeful and a euphoric day, you better take care of yourself with these actions:

High-Value Activities in the First Hours of the Morning

How you start your morning will decide how the day treats you.

To start your day on the right foot, make a plan before you go to sleep the previous day. A tool like ProofHub will help you plan your day, prioritize and visualize your day’s activities to stay organized to move work forward. The minute you wake up, get moving.

Morning is that time of the day when your brain is in one of the most creative states. It is said that “The first 3 hours of your day can dictate how your life turns out” and as Benjamin P. Hardy mentioned, we’re most creative in these early hours of the day which are most precious for maximized productivity.

Also, many successful people prefer to do high-value tasks in the first hours of the day to get a feeling of accomplishment, and therefore to look forward to a better day every morning. High-value tasks can be work related or something that leverages your creativity for the whole day. Eventually, you will find everything in power and get more done in less time.

Choose Your Creative Hours Relative to Your Energy Ebbs and Flows

Do you know at what time your brain requires what? Everyone goes through a time of the day when they are most productive and when they are most lazy. Our brain needs time for each activity: deep thinking, creativity, daydreaming, rest, and inspiration. Make the most of your peak times.

Get an idea of your personal creative ebb and flow. Determine your “circadian rhythm type." Map your energy level during different hours of the day, keep a time log for a week to see the variations of energy and then review your activities that goes well with the levels of energy every hour and each day. If you win most of your hours, the days will reset themselves and so will the years.

Declutter your Workspace

Mess at work? Look no further than your cubicle. Clutter creeps on us like bugs that kill our creativity and damage our focus. They say a neat desk is a symbol of a well-ordered mind and when the mind goes on in an orderly manner you will be able to concentrate better on your tasks.

Declutter your immediate environment by not keeping too many items on your desk at a time. Put some thought in all aspects when you start placing the items on your desk. And make a genuine commitment to keep your workspace decluttered daily.

Stop and Do Something Fun

Most people do not see breaks as an intrinsic part of their workday. A break simply means a method to sustain your energy and concentration for the rest of the day. Researchers in America have found that taking breaks during the workday is important to replace workplace “resources” - energy, motivation, and concentration.

When you are in the middle of a strenuous work absorbing whole of your energy, simply take a pause from what you are doing, and have a coffee, or do something fun, talk to someone, take a walk or get into a discussion. You may also switch tasks and do something different for a refreshing start. What you do during your break is also as important as what you do when you are on your desk. Enjoy every minute of your break.

Dig deep enough, and you will be happy about how your day goes. As it is said, “if you can name it, you can tame it” and now that you know what you have to do you can surely bring a change to your workday.
