Water Saving Strategies For Your Business

They are insulating their premises, making the switch to low-energy appliances, and taking steps to reduce waste

Should you be a business owner, you might be taking steps in the right direction yourself. But what about saving water? According to reports, our water resources are decreasing, and this is partly because of the problems associated with climate change. So, in an effort to become more sustainable, it's important to consider the amount of water you use and waste each day within your business. Now is not the time to become complacent, as we should all do our bit to avoid a potential water shortage in the future.

Strategies need to be put in place. These can include the following.

Install Water-Efficient Equipment

If you use technologies that consume a lot of water, you might want want to make the switch to water-efficient models. The upfront cost might be high, but you will make savings on your water and energy bills if you do. We are thinking of the appliances you use for washing purposes, for example. And we are also thinking of the toileting areas within your business. Waterless urinals and high-efficiency toilets are becoming commonplace in many places today, so think about making the switch.

Tankless water heaters can also reduce water waste, as can installed timers that automatically turn off faucets. Then there are the water pumps that might be a necessity in the equipment you use in your business. The products provided by Dab pumps are a popular choice as they are created with the 'every drop matters' manifesto in mind. So, consider the equipment your business uses, and change what you can.

Get a Water Audit

Chances are, you might have asked for an energy audit from your utility company or a third-party firm at some point during the life of your business. If you haven't yet, you should, as they will let you know you know where savings can be made. A water audit is very similar, as an auditing company can give you advice on where you can reduce your water consumption. Some water utility companies will conduct the audit for free, and they might even give you a rebate for your water-saving initiatives, so let this be an incentive for calling on the help of a professional.

Recycle and Reuse your Water

If you regularly use large quantities of water in your business, finding ways to reuse it is a must. We aren't going to go into detail here as you can learn more in the following article on recycling water for commercial businesses. From grey water recycling systems to tank treatment systems, consider the various strategies that could be right for your business. There are other things you could do within your business too, such as using leftover drinking water to irrigate your indoor plants and outdoor green areas, and reusing uncontaminated water for cleaning purposes.

So, consider our suggestions for your business, and create a water-saving plan. Educate your employees on water-saving habits too, and adopt them yourself to set a good example. By doing your bit to conserve water, you will save money in your business and do your bit to save the world's water supply.
